You have gotta be kidding!

We live in an absurd world. This site is dedicated to the most ridiculous things that I can find out there. It should be a wild ride.

Will they allow small beatings or rapes too?

Well, I guess we know where Mexico stands on the fight against illegal drugs. It seems they are set to legalize small amounts of drugs for personal use so that they can "focus on the larger smuggling operations. What?????

Talk about double speak! It's ok to have small amounts, but we're going to stop the large smuggling operations. Uh...if it wasn't for the people with the small amounts, there wouldn't be large smuggling operations. This is kind of like cutting off a finger to get rid of a hangnail.

So what's next? In order to focus on the serial killers or mass murderers are they going to allow people to kill just one person? That way they can focus on the bigger issue.

As usual, dissenting opinions are welcome. Leave me a comment.

Here is a link to an article on MSN.com to this story. They have a lot more indepth look at it than my rant.

Way to go Justice Department!

This post isn't exactly in the spirit of this blog because it doesn't fall into my definition of ludicrous, but when I saw the headlines I just had to comment on it.

The Justice Department just completed an operation where they picked up 1102 sex offenders. Check out the story here:

Great job, Justice Department. Keep up the good work.

Anyone else having a hard time caring?

In celebration of one of the biggest non-events in the history of the world, the news of Britney Spears being pregnant again hit the airwaves and cyberspace.

Wow...! Gee...! What a great..., no, I can't even muster up the energy to even pretend to care. I mean, who is this person except a spoiled kid who decided to turn to sleeze to try to bolster her record sales? There seems to be nothing that is to low for her to try, take for example that "reality show" she did with her husband. One episode of which hit the tabloids as a discussion of "who farted" in the car they were traveling in.

What is it with people like Ms Spears who want to shed the "good girl" image that made people like them to begin with and turn to this kind of garbage?

If you disagree with my sentiments, I invite you to leave a comment.

What's that rhyme about beans and music?

Thanks again to MSN.com we have another humorous story to read today. It seems that scientists are fooling around with beans to take the "air biscuit" out of them. Yes, you heard correctly, scientists are working to make beans less gassy. It appears that adding certain types of bacteria can help remove or reduce the flatulence inherent in eating beans. New meaning to "working with power tools".

Here is an interesting story I picked up from MSN.com (one of my favorite sources, I have it set as my home page).

A man in Oakland California was arrested for working in the nude when the homeowner who had hired him come home and found him performing carpentry without any clothes on. His excuse? "I didn't want to get my clothes dirty."

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but there are certain things that are attached to me that I just don't feel comfortable having exposed to power tools and cutting instruments.

Here's the link to the story.

Wow, he really got nailed!

All over the news yesterday was the story about the Washington man who attempted suicide with a nail gun. He fired 12 nails into his head in an attempt to end his own life, but failed.

This man reported to a hospital, complaining of a head ache (big surprise there) and the doctors found the nails. They were able to remove them with pliers, according to some of the news reports.

I can think of several ways I would prefere to have my life end and not surprisingly none of them involves nails in my head. It is amazing to me that he survived the incident.

I found a story online for anyone who would like to read about it from the real news media. You can find it at the Arizona Daily Star sight at this URL:

Don't worry, you can take out a second mortgage to pay for your gas!

What in the world is going on? I am watching Fox News as I type this and they are talking about the price of gas. The words $4.00 a gallon have been used as what they anticipate what the price will be. On top of that, they are talking about how all the politicians are blaming each other.

We, the middle class, are having a hard time getting to work with the price of gas and instead of doing something about it, they just want to ensure they get the votes by making us think that the other party is to blame.

When is this going to end? Will we be riding horses to work by the end of the summer?

Sex offender shootings

This story is more of a tragedy than anything else. Two men who are on sex offender internet lists in the state of Maine were killed April 16. The suspect was a 20 year old Canadian resident who was visiting his father at the time of the incidents.

Police are "looking into the possibility that the shootings are related because both men are on the same sex offender list."

The suspect was later confronted by police in a bus and took his own life. That's where the tragedy comes in. Ok, let me be frank here, it is not right that he killed these men. I wish he hadn't done it, for his sake. I am not crying any tears over the sex offenders though. They are on the list because of what they have done to kids.

Yes, I know, it's not my place to judge. If it was, I'd be out there with this Canadian guy helping rid the world of more of them.

You decide whether it's a good thing or a bad thing. I already have my own opinion.

If you've got the money honey, I've got the time (travel)

"Paging Dr. Wells, doctor H.G. Wells, you're needed in...,"

Well, I've heard of chiropractors making some pretty wild claims such as curing cancer or the common cold, but this one is above and beyond etc. etc.. A chiropractor in Ohio claims he can reach back to the time an injury happens and fix the problem. He has even made up a name for the treatment, Bahlaqeem.

I have to say up front that I have been treated by a chiropractor for over five years now and I am very pleased with the results. He helps get rid of headaches, he helps get rid of backaches and he helps me feel better generally. I was pleased when I first started visiting him that he didn't make any wild claims, he explained the treatment, what it does, how it works, and he even told me what he believed he could help me with. The information I have received from him is highly accurate and he has never mislead me. I BELIEVE IN CHIROPRACTIC CARE, but when one makes a wild claim like this one it puts all chiropractic doctors in a bad light.

MSNBC has a good write-up of the story, you can find it here:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12208638/

For more information on Chiropractic Doctors see the U.S. Dept of Labor's web site with information on the field.
http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos071.htm

Further information on chiropractic care can be found here:
http://www.spine-health.com/topics/conserv/chiro/feature/chirtr01.html

Go see a chiropractor and let them help you with your overall health, but stay away from crackpots like the one described above.

And Baby Makes Three?

When these people put on a party, they don't fool around. Apparently in Springfield, MA (could this be the fabled Springfield of Simpsons fame?) there was a very exciting baby shower. Things got so out of hand the cops were called. Yeah, I know that's not out of the ordinary, it happens all the time. This time it was a little more serious though. There was gunplay and the "Expecting lady" was even beaten with a stick.

Apparently two men got into a fight over the dating of a woman. (What were men doing at a baby shower? Brokeback Springfield?) One was shot and several of the guests of the party were beaten, including the Mother-to-be. I could think of several better places to get into a fight than a baby shower.

For the story check out this CBS news link: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/04/05/ap/strange/mainD8GQ3CF0E.shtml

Congresswoman assults Capital Police Officer

Cynthia McKinney, D-GA, was attempting to enter a House office building and was not recognized by the Capital police officers on duty. They challenged her and attempted to get her to stop, which she refused to do. An officer grabbed her in a further attempt to get her to stop and she struck him with her cell phone.

As if that wasn't enough, this woman who has been elected to one of the most important jobs in the United States then made a comment to news programs that the incident was, "instigated by the inapropriate touching and stopping of me, a female, black congresswoman."

You've gotta be kidding! First off, she was not wearing the identification necessary for the officers to know who she is. Second, if an officer does not recognize someone, it is their sworn duty to stop the person and determine if he/she is a threat to the people who legitimately work there. The officer was working to protect her and her fellow congress members. How can this be construed as rasism? What does her gender and race have to do with anything? Why is she attempting to fan the flames of rasism with her statement?
